Physical Literacy & Early Literacy: Gastonia Workshop

If we care about early literacy, we have to care about physical literacy. Drawing from recent research, this workshop explores how the brain learns through the body, specifically in the development of critical early literacy skills. This training will explore relationships between physical development and early literacy, help participants become more intentional in their use of movement in the storytime setting, provide a chance to observe a real Stories, Songs, and Stretches!® class, and provide participants an opportunity to explore gentle movement in their own bodies.

Join exclusive presenter Katie Scherrer for a 4 hour workshop which includes a live demonstration with families and children.

Movement will be limited to shapes that can be done standing up or seated in chairs as this is a condensed training, so no yoga mats are necessary. However, you should wear clothing in which they feel comfortable moving.

This workshop will be at the Gaston County Main Library, Gastonia and is from 1 PM - 5 PM. Registration will be limited to 30 participants.
