Pueblos: Celebrating Childhood Across Cultures In-Person

Join Irania Macias of Criss Cross Mangosauce as she walks library staff through Pueblos: Celebrating Childhood Across Cultures.

Pueblos is a fun workshop for librarians to implement with parents and caregivers to recover their cultural heritage by rekindling their memories of oral traditions, such as childhood songs, folktales, poems, riddles and more, and bringing them to life in a manner that they can easily share with their own children. This program increases the awareness of authentic poetry, folklore, music and storytelling among parents as a whole, connecting diverse communities culturally through the performing arts.

This workshop will be held at the Valdese Public Library, from 1 PM - 4 PM. Registration is limited to 30 participants.

Irania is a dynamic speaker, award-winning author of children’s literature, storyteller and educator. For more than 20 years she has worked in the field of outreach programming, arts integration and inclusion in education for libraries in the US, Spain and Latin America. She is the co- founder of Criss Cross Mangosauce, an edutainment company for kids, and the founder of Gates for Healing, a company that foster social emotional learning in educational settings.
