Catching Up with Cataloging (State Library of NC) In-Person
This full-day class is a hands-on introduction to the process and components of cataloging including the reason for cataloging, copy cataloging, bibliographic description in RDA, MARC encoding, subject analysis, and authority records. This class is designed for NC library staff without formal classroom training in cataloging and/or those who want to refresh their understanding of cataloging basics. This class begins at 10:00 a.m. with a one hour break for lunch on your own, and concludes by 5:00 p.m. This is a bring your own device (BYOD) workshop. Participants should bring a fully-charged laptop for their use during the workshop.

Prerequisites:
This is a hands-on technology workshop. Participants are also expected to have mastered basic computer and Internet competencies.
