Weeding and Readers' Advisory Training with Rebecca Vnuk In-Person
Weeding/Genre Training Session with Rebecca Vnuk, Executive Director of LibraryReads
This half-day program will consist of:
- A focus on practical, shelf-by-shelf weeding tips
- In the Readers' Advisory part of the workshop, we'll take a look at 3 of the most popular genres: Mystery, Romance/Women's Fiction, and Speculative Fiction (SF, Fantasy, and Horror). Participants will come away with a good understanding of the background and appeal factors of each genre, lists of classic and contemporary authors to know, a wide range of titles to recommend. We'll also take a look at what makes genre fiction stand out from "general" fiction - and ways they are similar.
